CAACE (Cuban-American Association of Civil Engineers) annually recognizes Civil Engineering projects completed during the previous calendar year that enhance our professional image and contribute to advancement of our quality of life. The award is divided into four categories based on total construction cost, as follows:
CATEGORY I AWARD
Awarded to an Engineering project where its main component is Civil Engineering. The construction cost of the project is less than $10 million dollars. The project must be constructed and the facility must be operational within the last year. A 300 word narrative and 5 photographs are required to be submitted along with an application for the award. Recipient must be the owner, owner’s representative, engineer or architectural engineer of record.
CATEGORY II AWARD
Awarded to an Engineering project where its main component is Civil Engineering. The construction cost of the project is between $10 million dollars and $25 million dollars. The project must be constructed and the facility must be operational within the last year. A 300 word narrative and 5 photographs are required to be submitted along with an application for the award. Recipient must be the owner, owner’s representative, engineer or architectural engineer of record.
CATEGORY III AWARD
Awarded to an Engineering project where its main component is Civil Engineering. The construction cost of the project is between $25 million dollars and $100 million dollars. The project must be constructed and the facility must be operational within the last year. A 300 word narrative and 5 photographs are required to be submitted along with an application for the award. Recipient must be the owner, owner’s representative, engineer or architectural engineer of record.
CATEGORY IV (Mega Project) AWARD
Awarded to an Engineering project where its main component is Civil Engineering. The construction cost of the project is $100 million dollars or greater. The project must be constructed and the facility must be operational within the last year. A 300 word narrative and 5 photographs are required to be submitted along with an application for the award. Recipient must be the owner, owner’s representative, engineer or architectural engineer of record.
Civil Engineering projects are defined as remodeling of an existing building (structure) or new building (structure); widening of roadway facility or new roadway facility; bridge projects, tunnels, water or sewer installations; expansion of water or sewer plants; public works project and other projects relevant to the Civil Engineering Industry. The projects qualification as a Civil Engineering related project shall be made at the sole discretion of the Board of Directors of CAACE.
