Cristina Ortega Castineiras, P.E. is a water resources engineer with 17 years of experience, including planning, design, permitting, construction management, commissioning, and operation of water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure throughout South Florida.

She is the Florida Drinking Water Market Lead for HDR. Prior to joining HDR, she served as the City Engineer at the City of Miami Beach, where she was responsible for directing the Engineering Division within Public Works, comprised of 40 professionals and encompassing Planning and Design, Construction Management, Regulatory Compliance, GIS, and Right-of-Way Management.

Prior to her employment at the City, Cristina was a project manager and water process engineer in the consulting industry. Throughout her career, she has managed diverse engineering teams and delivered innovative solutions that saved utilities millions of dollars in capital and operations and maintenance expenditures.

Cristina has served the Cuban American Association of Civil Engineers (C-AACE) Board in various capacities for over a decade, demonstrating a longstanding commitment to the organization and the civil engineering profession.

She was honored as the 2024 ASCE Miami-Dade Branch Government Engineer of the Year and was recognized as the 2014 C-AACE and FSAWWA Young Engineer of the Year.
