Mr. Arnelio Alfonso has 39 years of experience in hydraulics, stormwater management, and water and sewer systems. His career spans various roles, including University Professor, Lead Consulting Engineer, and Project Manager, showcasing his deep knowledge and unwavering commitment to the Civil Engineering Profession.
In the stormwater management field, Mr. Alfonso has successfully managed and led a wide range of projects, from watershed evaluations to flood protection studies and stormwater management master plans. His work covers both small-scale projects and large, complex ones involving thousands of square miles, demonstrating his versatility and capability to handle diverse challenges.
Examples of his achievements include the MIC Drainage Master Plan, City of Miami Beach Flood Mitigation Program, several stormwater pump stations, and several major FDOT drainage systems, including Section 5, SR 826, SR 836, and SR 874.
In the water and sewer field, Mr. Alfonso has been responsible for the design and replacement of several miles of water and sewer pipelines involving a wide range of sizes, materials, and installation methods. He has also been responsible for the design of more than 40 sanitary sewer lift stations, including large booster stations.
Mr. Alfonso has a proven track record in obtaining the necessary environmental permits for drainage improvement projects. His efforts include coordinating with various agencies, showcasing his comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements and his ability to navigate complex permitting processes.
He has developed strong working relationships with key agencies such as the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (MD-WASD), South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD), Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Miami-Dade Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources (MD DRER), and several local municipalities.
