Ernesto Fernandez, P.E., CGC, CUC is a water infrastructure leader with more than nine years of experience helping utilities and municipalities plan, design, and deliver critical water, wastewater, and stormwater improvements. As Miami Metro-Water Market Leader at GHD, he works closely with local governments and utility providers to address aging infrastructure, support growth, improve resiliency, and deliver practical solutions that serve communities for generations.
A licensed Professional Engineer, Certified General Contractor, and Certified Underground Utility Contractor, Ernesto brings a unique blend of engineering, construction, and program management experience.
He has led major utility master plans, large-diameter transmission mains, pump station improvements, septic-to-sewer programs, and design-build projects for agencies throughout Florida and New York. His approach focuses on collaboration, accountability, and developing solutions that are both technically sound and construction ready.
Beyond project delivery, Ernesto is passionate about supporting the engineering profession and his community. He served as Chairman of the ASCE Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI) Miami Chapter and serves as Vice-Treasurer of the Cuban American Association of Civil Engineers (CAACE), where he helps mentor young professionals and promote the advancement of the industry.
He was recognized as the 2025 Young Engineer of the Year by the Florida Engineering Society, ASCE, and CAACE for his leadership, technical contributions, and commitment to service.
