Joe L. Gómez, P.E., F.FES currently serves as Deputy City Manager for the City of Coral Gables. On August 25, 2026, the City Commission appointed him as the next City Manager, effective January 8, 2027. His departmental portfolio includes Public Works, Development Services, and Parking, Mobility and Sustainability.
Mr. Gómez has more than 49 years of experience in civil engineering, municipal infrastructure, strategic planning, transportation systems, and construction management. He has managed and directed large-scale infrastructure organizations, including the City of Miami Beach's Department of Public Works and the Florida Department of Transportation's District 6 Operations Division, serving Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.
Mr. Gómez represents the City of Coral Gables on the Miami-Dade Transportation Planning Organization's Transportation Planning Council (TPC). He also serves on the Board of the Bayfront Park Management Trust (BPMT), appointed by City of Miami District 4 Commissioner Rafael Rosado.
Mr. Gómez and his wife Maggie reside in the City of Miami with their dog, Sno. They are the proud parents of Gisselle, Melissa, Alfred, and Nancy, and have two grandsons, Greyson and Hudson.
