Director
Jose L. Acosta, P.E., F.ASCE is President of Chen Moore & Associates, a multidisciplinary engineering firm. Appointed President in January 2026, he serves on the firm's Executive Committee and Board of Directors and oversees its business, strategic, marketing, and financial planning. He joined the firm in 2010, became a partner in 2013, and previously served as Executive Vice President.
Mr. Acosta earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Civil and Architectural Engineering from the University of Miami in 1999 and a Master of Business Administration from Auburn University in 2003. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Florida and a graduate of the Florida Engineering Leadership Institute.
A Past President of the Cuban American Association of Civil Engineers (CAACE), Mr. Acosta led the association from 2015 to 2017 and currently serves as a Director. CAACE recognized him with its Young Engineer of the Year Award in 2010 and the Ingeniero Plinio Villanueva Award in 2018.
Mr. Acosta serves as statewide President of the Florida Engineering Society (FES) for the 2026–2027 term. He previously served as President of its Miami Chapter and as statewide Vice President of Finance. In 2024, FES honored him as its statewide Engineer of the Year.
A Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Mr. Acosta served as President of the ASCE Florida Section from 2015 to 2016 and was named ASCE Region 5 Engineer of the Year in 2017. His professional service also includes leadership roles with the American Council of Engineering Companies of Florida.
Mr. Acosta is a Director and Resilience Chair of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. He is a graduate of Leadership Florida's Cornerstone Class 37 and served as Southeast Region Chair from 2022 to 2023. In 2015, the South Florida Business Journal named him one of its top 40 business professionals under 40.
Committed to supporting future engineers, Mr. Acosta has served on university industry advisory boards and participated in the Future City Competition as a professional mentor and Co-Chair of the South Florida Regional Competition.
Mr. Acosta is happily married to his wife Sofia and is a proud father of three children: PJ, Lucia, and Frances.
